Yorkshire, often referred to as “God’s Own County,” is the largest county in England and is divided into four regions: North, South, East and West. Each area offers a rich blend of history, natural beauty, and vibrant towns and cities.
North Yorkshire is the perfect place to begin your exploration of the region. Famed for its dramatic landscapes, charming villages, and historic landmarks. Highlights include the medieval city of York, quaint towns like Harrogate and Knaresborough, and top attractions like Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks.
Home for me is West Yorkshire. It’s the place where I was born and lived until my early twenties before moving to London. In this region you will find many gems. Yorkshire Sculpture Park offers world-class art set against sprawling countryside; the cosmopolitan city of Leeds; and quaint towns like Haworth and Hebden Bridge.
In the South the attractions continue: explore the lively city of Sheffield that extends out to the Peak District, a region recognised for its outstanding natural beauty.
Lastly, the East, for me, is all about the coast. You have natural wonders like Flamborough Head with its beautiful rock formations, and Bempton Cliffs that attract a wealth of birdlife during the summer months.
As you can see, Yorkshire is vast and offers wealth of things to do if you know where to look.
