Central Asia, a region with a rich history, diverse cultures, and stunning landscapes. Comprising countries like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, it offers a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern influences.
Central Asia was a key part of the historic Silk Road. Explore the ancient trade routes, visit caravanserais, and learn about the region’s role in connecting cultures and nomadic traditions that continue today.
My favourite country in Central Asia is Kyrgyzstan. It’s a small country with unparalleled natural beauty, and can be experienced without any crowds. Hiking opportunities are endless against the back drop of the Tien Shan Mountains. To experience nomadic culture, and to feel closer to nature, I recommend sleeping in yurt accommodation which can be found along hiking trails, and around the shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.
To lap up the attractions of a cosmopolitan city, head to Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Almaty Central Park, explore the Zenkov Cathedral, and take a cable car ride to Kok Tobe Hill for panoramic views.
